# How to bring back the latest iPhone notification with a shortcut

By Gustavo Takechi, developer of NotiKeep. Updated October 17, 2026.

**Short answer:** Show Latest Notification reads the most recent accessible message saved in NotiKeep and displays its text in a NotiKeep notification. Run it with the Action Button, Back Tap or Siri. It requires Pro, iOS 27, capture already configured and permission for NotiKeep to show notifications.

## A notification disappeared before you read it?

If its text was already captured, the shortcut brings the latest accessible message back without opening the source app. Tapping the new notification opens that conversation inside NotiKeep.

## First, confirm capture works

- Follow the [Shortcuts capture guide](https://notikeep.app/en/ios-27-notification-automation/) and check a test message in Recents.

- With Pro active, open **Settings › Show Latest Notification** in NotiKeep. Tap **Allow notifications** and choose **Allow** in the iOS prompt. If previously denied, the button opens Settings so you can turn on **Allow Notifications**.

- Tap **Add to Shortcuts**, choose Shortcuts, and confirm **Show Latest Notification**. This is separate from Salvar no NotiKeep.

- Tap **I’ve added the shortcut**, choose a gesture, and use **Test Latest Notification**. Tap the delivered notification to open the conversation in NotiKeep.

## Action Button

On a model with an Action Button, open iPhone Settings › Action Button › Shortcut and choose Show Latest Notification. Press and hold the button to run it.

## Back Tap

Open Settings › Accessibility › Touch › Back Tap › Double Tap. In the Shortcuts section, select Show Latest Notification.

## Siri or the open app

Ask Siri for the latest notification in NotiKeep. With NotiKeep open, shaking the iPhone opens the conversation for the latest accessible message.

## If no message appears

- Confirm that a notification has been captured and the automation is active.

- Check Settings › Notifications › NotiKeep for permission.

- Check that source notifications contain text previews.

- Show Latest Notification requires an active Pro subscription.

The gesture does not recover alerts from before setup. Use [history search](https://notikeep.app/en/iphone-notification-history/) to find a particular message.
